FirstNet Expands Services for Public Safety Agencies

Public safety agencies operating in partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, also known as FirstNet, now have access to new capabilities to communicate and enhance their response to emergencies.

Public safety agencies struggled to use CARES Act funding, report finds

Despite access to more than $600 billion in grants made available by the federal government and private sector each year, public safety agencies have struggled to make use of that funding, according to a new report from the law enforcement consulting firm Lexipol and the wireless network equipment company Cradlepoint. First-responder officials are applauding the recent AT&T announcement that FirstNet agencies now can access vertical-location (Z-axis) information powered by NextNav to find personnel inside taller buildings—a challenging task that has been described by many as the “Holy Grail” of public-safety communications.

Nebraska plans to complete next-generation 911 by end of 2022

The State of Nebraska plans to complete its deployment of next-generation 911 by the end of next year, a public safety official there told StateScoop on Thursday.
