NICEVILLE — The Okaloosa County Emergency Operations Center has taken on a new name in honor of the former sheriff who’s tenure contributed to the advancement of public safety in the county and throughout the state.

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – 911 call pick-up times at the Durham Emergency Communications Center have improved in the last eight months despite half of the center’s 911 operator positions remaining vacant.
CBS 17 broke the story more than a year ago about a shortage of 911 operators and the impact that had on call pick-up times.

Lumen Technologies will help the state of New Jersey move to a next-generation 911 platform under a seven-year contract to improve the delivery of emergency calls for the state’s 8.9 million residents.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Imagine an emergency call to help, but no one picks up on the other end. That was one family’s reality Thursday morning after a medical concern turned into a struggle to get through to dispatch.
Brittany Franswick said her brother’s pregnant girlfriend felt chest pains, had a headache and was dizzy.

KHTS went behind the scenes with the 911 SCV Sheriff’s Station Dispatch Center to meet the unsung men and women who help keep our community safe.
The deputies and law enforcement technicians manning the 911 dispatch center carry with them a sense of responsibility for their community, thinly veiled by a jovial sense of dark humour used by so many others in high-stress jobs. Telecom companies associated with the roll-out of next-generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) services are asking the commission not to use money dedicated to other telecommunications services as a funding source, according to reporting from Cartt.ca.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has been working to figure out how to fund NG9-1-1 for some time, which comes with a $55 million price tag.
As the publication reports, telecom companies will pass the cost of the service to customers. But the cost larger telecom companies will be passing on is a lot less than the smaller companies… READ MORE
