It started in Spencerville, then it went through multiple towns before it ended tragically two hours later near the Ohio-Indiana border. Now we hear some of the disturbing last words from the man responsible for that chase. SPRING, Texas — Spring firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped by smoke and flames on the second floor of her home.
When the woman called 911 Thursday morning, Cypress Creek Emergency Services dispatcher, Ash Thompson, calmly talked her through what she needed to do.
Thompson directed her to stay in an upstairs bedroom with the door closed and sheets stuffed under the door to fend off the smoke.
BISMARCK, N.D. – The Central Dakota Communications Center, the place that handles 911 calls, says it’s busier than ever and needs more workers.
To put it into perspective, the number of emergency calls is higher than in 2016, when they added the Mandan area to their operations.
The number of 911 calls in Bismarck Mandan and Burleigh County continues to increase. There’s also more man power on the roads with officers and deputies all across those areas responding to all those calls. Dispatchers here at CenCom say they need more people in order to keep doing their jobs and to continue keeping the community safe.
At just 24 years old, Madison Smith already has four fire seasons under her belt.
The Thompson Rivers University student got hired as a dispatcher for the Cariboo Fire Centre in Williams Lake, in 2016. She worked there for two summers and eventually transferred to the Kamloops Fire Centre (KFC) in 2018.
“I love the team atmosphere and how rewarding it can be,” says Smith. “I love the feeling of being the crew’s safety line.”
The Wilmington City Council along with Wilmington Police Chief recognized a 911 dispatcher and a couple from Wilmington for their bravery and courage.
Angela Marks, was the Telecommunicator from WESCOM that was on the other end of 911 frantic call two weeks ago. The declaration read, “In the early morning hours of August 21st Angela Marks, Telecommunicator for the Western Will County Communication Center (WESCOM) took a call from a citizen whose home had just been invaded by an intruder wanted for Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Battery, Fleeing & Eluding. Angela was able to extract all pertinent information from the citizen during a period of high stress and relayed that information to officers on the scene that successfully apprehended two offenders.
