The Communications Specialist 1/Dispatcher is the first responder on the scene of any call for service and the critical link between the public, police officers, and the Communications Center. Communications Specialists are University Police Dispatchers and the information hub of the Kansas State University Police Department. Duties of this role include:
- On an apprentice level, answers campus 2 emergency telephone lines (911), 3 police business lines, Blue Light and emergency elevator telephone lines, and 1 direct line to Riley County Police Department Dispatch in order to receive and disseminate information regarding crimes in progress, reports of past crimes, complaints, accidents, weather conditions, etc…

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – A decorated Casper telecommunicator received his promotion to a supervisor position during a ceremony on Sept. 16.

After 18 years of service, Shift Lt. Kevin Kennedy signed off from Southwestern N.H. District Fire Mutual Aid for the last time Wednesday.
Kennedy’s time as a dispatcher was split between two different parts of his life.

As Ashland Fire Chief Rick Anderson watched a firefighter walk the perimeter of a building fire during training, he could see in real time what the firefighter was seeing through a live video stream.
Anderson could tell the color of the smoke and pinpoint the area of the house from where it appeared to be emitting.
