Benton County’s E911 Director, Jessica Mayfield, assumed her new role on October 19, 2020, and began right away putting into action her plans to bring the center up to full staff, modernize equipment and strengthen community relations. Mayfield’s background, training and experience reflect her qualifications for the new position.“The workload at this time, while very challenging, is manageable,” she said. “Until the center is up to full staff, I am working actively as a dispatcher as well as fulfilling my administrative duties. Duluth police are now using a new 911 technology that can help pinpoint the location of an emergency. With the use of the caller’s smartphone, a dispatcher can see everything that’s happening in real-time.
Duluth is the first police department in the state to use 911eye. When someone calls 911, the dispatcher will send a link to the caller’s smartphone, the caller then will be able to give permission for the dispatcher to access the phone’s GPS and camera…

Eagle River Fire Protection District, Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and Vail Fire & Emergency Services have been working closely with technology partner First Due to release Community Connect, an application focused on protecting residents and their property in the most effective way possible during an incident or major disaster.
Community Connect is a secure, easy-to-use platform that will initially allow residents to share critical information about their household and family with first responders. Soon to follow there will also be a commercial side for business owners and property managers to share information about commercial structures, such as hazardous materials, evacuation plans, and contact information, allowing first responders to respond more efficiently and effectively and ultimately resulting in better incident outcomes for both residents and businesses…

HORRY CO, SC (WBTW) – Construction will begin next week on the long-awaited emergency operations center for Horry County.
County officials have said the current Emergency Operations and Communications Center was not designed to handle earthquakes and hurricanes above a category two. During Hurricane Matthew, the county discovered it was too small; people were forced to sleep in the halls during the 2016 storm.
The current emergency operations center is in the M.L. Brown building, but Horry County leaders have said it’s outdated, needs new technology, and this area floods every time there’s significant rain… READ MORE
