The results of a workplace assessment recently completed for Tucson’s Public Safety Communications Department has caused concern among city leaders who are working to address “fundamental problems in the operation of the department.”
The department is responsible for dispatching 9-1-1 calls for police and fire departments.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office beginning Friday will hold open interviews for people who wish to become dispatchers for the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center, Sheriff Brian C. HIll said in a news release Wednesday.

RiverCom 911 is currently hiring to fill several telecommunicator positions. The dispatch center is currently down seven people and is looking for candidates to apply.

(WTVG) – The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is now able to handle 9-1-1 interactions through text message, allowing those who feel they would be endangered by placing a call.
Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn says: “Dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency is still the preferred way to request help, and the public is reminded to Call if you can, text if you can’t.
