Daviess County and the city of Washington appear to have reached an agreement for a combined emergency dispatch system.
“After meeting with the mayor (Washington Mayor Dave Rhoads) and councilman (Washington City Councilman Allen) Brown on June 14, we have come to a consensus to move forward,” said Daviess County Commissioner Nathan Gabhart. “With our agreement this moves the proposal to the city council for their approval at their next meeting and then to the county council.”
Final wording on the agreement will be worked out in a memorandum of understanding between the city and county by their attorneys…

As Montgomery County continues to grow rapidly, the county is turning to the Conroe ISD police department for help managing emergency calls.
The Montgomery County Emergency Communications District is the local agency charged with providing emergency communications services to the county. When a resident calls 911 it is the agency that manages the call.
Currently, the county has two primary public safety answering point agencies with MCECD: The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Conroe Police Department, the two largest law enforcement agencies in the county…

The county is looking into the possibility of moving the 911 dispatch center into a building near the Grant County Regional Airport in John Day.
Paul Gray, the county’s emergency manager, said a new location for the dispatch center — which is its own agency — would give it better coverage.
Gray said the dispatch center needs to be better positioned up at the airport, giving it a line of sight to multiple towers throughout the county…

(FOX 9) – A county sheriff’s office in northern Wisconsin says it has taken more than 700 accidental 911 calls this year, which it attributes to an iPhone feature that can be accidentally triggered while boating or riding ATVs.
According to the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office, more than 159 accidental 911 calls have been reported in June alone. More than 700 accidental calls have been received in 2021.
According to the county’s dispatch supervisor, the majority of accidental calls from iPhone’s Emergency SOS Auto Call feature. When it is on, 911 is called when you touch your side button five times. It can be turned off in the settings…
