The Rutherford County Emergency Communications District’s 9-1-1 Administration and Training Center is getting a new name.
On Friday, the facility will become the John D. Hood 9-1-1 Administration and Training Center, named for the long-time board member and treasurer.
“We could not think of anyone more deserving of this honor,” said RCECD Director Steve Smith. “Mr. Hood has been such an incredible figure representing the Rutherford County community over the years, and he has been a tremendous asset to our communications team.” READ MORE

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s new hands-free driving law takes effect Wednesday, making it illegal to drive while holding a mobile device, such as a smartphone.
The hands-free law does have one exception. Drivers may hold their cell phones when calling 911.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) — The Minneapolis City Council seems ready to defund its police department after the death of George Floyd and a long history of missteps leading up to it.

Huron County EMA/911 has been awarded an Ohio 9-1-1 Local Sub-grant. The grant is to be used specifically for Next Generation 9-1-1 related expenses and provides up to $135,235.85 in funding.
