A new emergency dispatch center that will serve nearly half a million people in north Harris County is set to be housed in the Emergency Services District No. 16/Klein Fire Department facility at 16810 Squyres Road, Spring.The operation, which will service fire response and emergency rescue calls, is being spearheaded by the Texas Emergency Communications Center.

CHARLES TOWN — Delaney Hannah, 12, of Charles Town, did not expect to find her great-aunt having a diabetic emergency when she arrived home from school on April 15, but that is exactly what she found. Familiar with the symptoms her aunt was experiencing, Delaney called 911 emergency and was connected with Mallory Spinks at the call center.

Spinks, a dispatcher trainee at the time, was working with a trainer, according to Lori Brown, EMD coordinator at the 911 Center. Brown explained that Spinks had been on the floor for about two weeks and was working with a fully certified training officer…

The population has exploded by more than 30 percent, from 179,400 in 2010 to 241,300 over the past 10 years.
