County 911 board open to centralizing at dispatch center (TN)

The often-discussed question of central 911 dispatch took another step forward Monday.

The Henry County 911 Board voted unanimously to have Mark Archer, 911 director, and John Etheridge, 911 board chairman, represent the board in a meeting later this week that will cover the details of how to consolidate dispatching for emergency services under one roof.

It’s only the first step in what will likely be a lengthy process that will involve the cooperation and agreement of Paris and Henry County governments…

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – The Chesterfield County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services announced a partnership with PulsePoint, a 9-1-1 integrated mobile app and community tool that empowers CPR-trained citizens to help save lives.

Some 911 calls to be diverted to new nurse navigator program (NY)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — If you call 911 in Monroe County you may not get an ambulance. The City of Rochester, Monroe County and AMR have launched a Nurse Navigator program. Certain non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses may now be routed to a licensed nurse.

A career in public safety is not about being a hero in the spotlight, but the fact is that first responders often find themselves in the “starring role” of many incidents, some traumatic. And while the type of first responder in the spotlight will differ from incident to incident depending on the type of emergency at hand, there is one branch of emergency services that rarely finds itself the focus of attention: emergency telecommunicators.

Abington’s emergency calls now go to regional dispatch center (MA)

All 911 calls to the town of Abington are now going through the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communication Center.

Emergency calls to the Abington Fire Department already were going through the regional dispatch center; the Abington Police Department switched to the center on Jan. 3, according to a press release.
