ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Regional Communications Center (RCC) are the latest local agencies to switch to a digital communication system, joining much of the rest of law enforcement — and the world — in going digital.
Like the Ellsworth police and fire departments and, well before that, the Maine State Police, the Hancock County first responder agencies will go from analog to digital this spring.

Habersham County, much like many businesses and governments across the nation, is experiencing staffing shortages and employee turnover. The solution to that shortage, according to county officials, could lie in a property tax increase.
There are currently 35 open positions in Habersham County, 18 of which are public safety positions in the detention center, E-911 dispatch, sheriff’s office and emergency services departments. Of those open positions, only one is new. County Manager Alicia Vaughn says the rest are open due to staff turnover…
A 911 dispatcher has been charged with invasion of privacy after allegedly hiding a secret camera at a urinal in a Pennsylvania the area where a number of officers were arrested by themselves.
Operator John Logan, 49, allegedly fitted a camera with an SD card with Velcro in one of the urinals at the North Versailles Police Department, which was later found by an officer on December 31.
Logan was identified as the culprit after a search of his home, where a camera similar to the one found in the urinal was discovered, along with a flash drive containing videos of officers using the restroom…
