Oakland County Sheriff calls on Congress to fund Next Generation 9-1-1 (IL)

(WXYZ) — Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard is calling on Congress to fund “Next Generation 9-1-1” to mark the end of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Next Generation 9-1-1 would enable call centers to receive multimedia data from callers. This would allow 9-1-1 operators to easily send that information to other 9-1-1 centers and first responders in real-time.

Strathcona County recognizes professionals who answer 9-1-1 calls (Canada)

Apr. 10 – 16 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and Strathcona County is taking some time to recognize the people on the other end of 9-1-1 calls.  

Satina Koscielny is the supervisor of the municipal operational communications centre in Strathcona County. Originally from Manitoba, she got into the field after a friend told her about a job opening.

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) –

The need for 9-1-1 centers is clear, but the way call centers operate in the state will be changing entirely.

Twiggs County E-911 implements Text-To-911 (GA)

TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office announced its E-911 Center has another way for people to reach out during emergencies.

Text-To-911 is now available to everyone throughout the County.

The ability to text 911 provides deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired communities direct access to 911 services. Honoring local dispatchers during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (ID)

Dispatchers recognized during National Public Safety Telecommunicators week (WI)

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Saturday marked the final day of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
