At a panel discussion of “Digitaler Staat Online”, BDBOS (The Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio) President Andreas Gegenfurtner debated the future of the UHF frequency band with people from politics and business.

At the same time, Gegenfurtner campaigned for the need-based allocation of frequencies in the 470 – 694 MHz range for the future realization of BOS broadband data communication.

Progress made on LawCo Emergency Communications Center plan (MO)

Following the April 5 election, incumbents Kris Bowling, Brian Cook and Jack Schulz, along with newly elected Lawrence County Emergency Services Board (LCESB) member Deborah Prichard, took their oaths of office before settling down to the business at hand during the April meeting.

In a slight shift of responsibilities, Jim Carson was named vice chair, and Bowling was named treasurer. The board approved the recommendation of Bonnie Witt-Schulte, director, to have fiber optics installed by Liberty Connect, at a cost of $16,500 for installation and $1,650 per month…

First Responders Applaud FCC Proposal to Fund Next Gen 911 with Auction Proceeds

It was the kind of funding news that many first responders were hoping for. On February 22, 2022, FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel proposed using revenues from future spectrum auctions to fund Next Gen (NG) 911 rollouts across the United States. She made the proposal during a speech at Washington’s National Press Club to mark FirstNet’s 10th anniversary.

“Historically, our nation’s 911 systems have been updated through fees on bills and a mix of town, county, and state funding measures. But as with first responder communications, it’s time for a nationwide, digital upgrade,” said Rosenworcel. “Once again, we would be using the auction of public airwaves to support public safety.
