MEMPHIS,
Tenn. (WMC) – A faulty light is to blame for a fire that caused
thousands of dollars in damage underneath the Memphis emergency
communications center.
Firefighters
were called to Flicker Street Thursday morning. They say the fire
spread to shop supplies kept in the city’s radio shop.

SAN ANTONIO — A dispatcher with the San Antonio Police Department has
been arrested in connection with an investigation into eight liner
gambling, according to a release from the department.
42-year-old
Annabel Gonzalez, a civilian employee, was taken into custody Thursday
and was charged with Engaging in Organized Crime, according to documents
from the city’s magistrate office.

As promised, the FirstNet Authority has published its five-year reinvestment roadmap as approved by the board of directors some time ago. Official publication had been held up so the FirstNet Authority could hold a series of meetings around the United States with public safety professionals to review the plans and collect input.
That the report has been published and a session on the roadmap has been held at the APCO conference confirms it is now ready for prime time.

Laura Grant played a role in saving hundreds of lives.
The
57-year-old Burlington woman was a long-serving and beloved fixture as a
dispatcher at the Mississauga Central Ambulance Communication Centre
(CACC.)
The centre provides EMS dispatch services to Peel and Halton.
At one time, Grant had also been a paramedic.
But on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m., the call that came in wasn’t about a stranger — it was one of their own.

BURLINGTON — Halton Region’s first homicide victim of 2019 has been identified as longtime EMS dispatcher Laura Grant.
A number of sources in the paramedic and policing communities
identified Grant, a dispatcher at Mississauga Central Ambulance
Communication Centre, which provides EMS dispatch to Peel and Halton, as
the victim in the deadly shooting on Wednesday afternoon.

A former Fredericksburg police dispatcher accused of feeding information
to suspected criminals was released from jail Wednesday on a $20,000
bond.
According to affidavits for search warrants filed in Fredericksburg
Circuit Court, a confidential informant recently told Virginia State
Police that Stephenson was providing information to suspects about
ongoing police investigations. The information included the location of
drug operations, police documents and records, pictures of individuals
assisting the police and descriptions of undercover narcotics
detectives.
