Whitfield County 911 Dispatcher Honored For Helping Save Childs Life

Dalton Fire Chief Todd Pangle honored Whitfield County 911 dispatcher Nicole Talman with a Citizen Recognition Award at a meeting of the Dalton Public Safety Commission.

“Our 911 dispatchers do a great job helping to keep our community safe,” Chief Pangle said, “and at (the Aug. 27) meeting of the Dalton Public Safety Commission we were able to honor one of them for her role in saving the life of a young child.”

‘Devastated but here to help:’ Dispatchers lose one of own and sheriff’s worker in motorcycle crash

BENZIE COUNTY, MI – A Grand Traverse County dispatcher and a sheriff’s evidence technician were killed in a motorcycle crash.

Joseph Donald Miller, 48, of Beulah, the dispatcher, and Rene Hoxie-Papineau, 62, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Sept. 1, in a crash while riding with other motorcyclists in Northern Michigan.

“We are devastated, but still here to help you. Always,” Grand Traverse County Central Dispatch said on Facebook.

SHPD First Thursday to highlight CCOM, emergency dispatchers

In an effort to highlight the important work of emergency dispatchers within our community, the St. Helens Police Department (SHPD) is partnering with Columbia 911 Communications District (CCOM) for their next First Thursday presentation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, in the Columbia Center auditorium, located at 375 S. 18th Street.

Staff from Columbia 911 Communications District will share the history of CCOM, what services the District covers and who they dispatch for, their yearly call volume, what to expect when you call 911, and what it takes to become a dispatcher.

Olive Garden delivers free meal to dispatchers

Eau Claire (WQOW)- A lot of people still have to work on Labor Day, including emergency first responders.

On Monday, Olive Garden showed its gratitude by delivering lunch to emergency dispatchers in Eau Claire County.

Every year, the restaurant chooses different first responders to receive free meals, and this year they chose dispatchers.

Olive Garden general manager, Nick Hewitt, said it’s nice to be able to provide the dispatchers with lunch and thank them for all that they do.
