The Palm Beach Police Department is looking to hire part-time
officers and dispatchers to lower overtime costs. Police Chief Nicholas
Caristo told last month’s Public Safety Committee meeting that the
part-timers would alleviate the overtime costs and fatigue on the
existing staff.
He did not say how many part-time staffers would
be hired, but “this is going to be at no additional cost to our 2020
budget,” he said.

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — If Ryan and Devinne Howell ever needed proof
that angels exist, they found it on the other end of a phone call to
911.
Missy Piche is a 911 dispatcher in Douglas County who helped talk the Howells through the birth of their daughter, Nellie Maeve Howell.
Nellie was born one week ago after the Howells realized they didn’t have time to make it to the hospital.
“He (Ryan) had her in the car and I was getting dressed to go and I was like, ‘No, we’re not making it, no way’,” said Devinne.

problems that have been created as a result are concerning.

Toledo Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Byrd believes these people do think
they need to call the emergency line, simply because they don’t know
where else to go.
“When people call, when things happen, in their
eyes, it’s an emergency. We have to be there to help them when we can,
but some of these things can probably be handled in more of a
non-emergent fashion by getting people diverted to the community
services that can help them out.”

A fired Miner, Missouri, police dispatcher has filed a federal
lawsuit against the former police chief and the city, alleging sex and
age discrimination and wrongful termination.
The termination of Laura Adams of Benton, Missouri, was a factor in
the impeachment and ouster of then police chief Christopher Griggs in
March.
Adams, 41, was a part-time dispatcher for the small Scott County city from May 15 to Oct. 4, 2018.

The city of Pharr hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveiled a new
state-of-the-art Public Safety Communications Building on Tuesday
morning.
Prior to the ribbon cutting, a VIP tour was provided for local law
