Peel police are once again reminding the public to use 911 calls appropriately.
On Oct. 20, police’s emergency services line received a from a resident, inquiring about Peel’s “emergency ride services.”
The resident told the 911 dispatcher that she was in a taxi heading to Union Station but, that she would not make in there on time for her train’s departure.
“I don’t know how you guys work with services in terms of that
because I’m in a taxi right now but it’s not gonna get me to the station
on time.”

This week, the Hawkins County Emergency Communications District, or E-911, is retraining dispatchers to be able to give step-by-step instructions for different first aid situations after it was discovered the dispatchers lacked required training.
A special called meeting of the HCECD Board was held on Sunday to authorize $10,000 to be paid to trainer Dorothy Cave to retrain all the dispatchers in Association of Public Safety-Communications Officials training. The $10,000 cost will be paid through E-911 savings. Because of the lack of training, the E-911 was out of compliance with state law….

current model or moving on to a different service provider altogether,
there may be changes afoot with how dispatch communication is handled
for local law enforcement, fire protection and emergency medical
services in the North Valley. Officials have been exploring their
options in recent weeks.
Gunnison Communications, managed by the
Gunnison Police Department, provides dispatch services for all agencies
