Changes in Tucson’s dispatch system reduce wait times for 911 callers (AZ)

Since Tucson combined its police and fire communications centers in 2018, hold times for 911 calls to police have been cut by three-fourths.

The city has also upgraded its technology to dispatch multiple fire units from different stations to multiple calls at the same time, which is expected to reduce response times.

Another change makes Tucson the second U.S. city to standardize questions police operators ask 911 callers, providing officers with more consistent information during emergencies.

The changes should speed up the process for Tucsonans in need of assistance and give greater assurance that the correct personnel will be dispatched ….

Adoption of new 911 Service Plan remains unclear (MI)

Branch County Commission Chair Ted Gordon believes issues between the county and the E-911 Board can be resolved. Others are not sure after the county adopted a new service plan in October.

Tuesday, Gordon and Administrator Bud Norman met with municipal officials.

“It went well. I think we accomplished something livable,” Gordon said.

Municipal members who attended could not be reached Wednesday for comment.

State Highway Patrol awards dispatcher and trooper of the year at Warren Post (OH)

SOUTHINGTON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced its dispatcher and trooper of the year for 2019.

Dispatcher of the year was given to Kathryn Kringeta, of Champion. She joined Highway Patrol in 2014.

She was awarded for her outstanding service at the Warren Post.

Kevin Brown was named trooper of the year. He joined in 2000 and lives with his wife and four children in Newton Township.

3-year-old girl credited with saving grandmother’s life with 911 call (UT)

BLUFFDALE — Three-year-old Sawyer Poole is being called a hero for saving her grandmother’s life.

After her grandmother collapsed on Nov. 19, Sawyer told 911 dispatchers to “come quickly.”

“My Nani is so sick,” Sawyer is heard telling a dispatcher named Joanna, who keeps the girl on the line for nearly 11 minutes until first responders arrive.

“We thought that something like this would never happen in a million years,” Sawyer’s mother, Alisha Poole, said Tuesday.
