A local lawmaker is holding a contest to recognize public safety officers for their service to the community.
State Senator Lana Theis on Monday announced a contest to recognize the service of the 22nd Senate District’s public safety officers. The 22nd Senate District includes all of Livingston County and western Washtenaw County.

Interim Helena Police Department Chief Steve Hagen on Wednesday honored those who he described as “the ones who get the least amount of credit.”

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – A Roanoke County family is counting their blessings just a month after a fire broke out with two children home alone.

HELENA- Two 9-1-1 dispatchers were recognized Wednesday for their life-saving actions in October.
The City of Helena says Chanel Waples and Zach Slattery took extra steps in saving lives when receiving 9-1-1 calls during two separate incidents.
Chanel Waples received the Distinguished Service Award after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a teenage girl who said she overdosed on medication and wanted to tell someone “goodbye” before hanging up.
