AUSTIN, Texas (KCBD) – Gov. Greg Abbott has re-appointed Amherst Mayor Clinton Sawyer to the Commission on State Emergency Communications. This puts him in charge of administering the state 9-1-1 service and poison control programs.
Sawyer is both the mayor of Amherst and an agent for Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, according to the Governor’s Office. Along with those positions, he also serves as a board member for the South Plains Association of Governments.

PORTLAND, Maine — A 911 call that prompted a two-day search for a sailboat off Maine was made by a sailor who was cold and seasick less than 24 hours after heading to sea, Coast Guard officials said.

A San Antonio emergency services dispatcher was arrested Monday after he allegedly threatened to carry out a shooting at the dispatch center, according to his arrest affidavit.
Jimmy Tucker, 45, was charged with making terroristic threats after police said he told a coworker on Monday that if a shooting were to happen, he would be the one to shoot up the place, the affidavit said.
Witnesses told police that Tucker was switching out his work station with a co-worker and when she asked Tucker how the day was he responded “it was dead slow,” to which she said, “wow, yesterday was so busy and there were a lot of shootings.” Tucker then said…

It has been a difficult week for Midwest schools. On Monday, a school resource officers in Waukesha Wisconsin shot a 17-year-old student who pointed a gun at officers. On Tuesday, a school resource officer in Oshkosh Wisconsin shot a student who stabbed him during an altercation. In both instances, the students are expected to survive.
