The Office of Emergency Communications (OEC) awarded 24 grant projects totaling $2.1 million in federal funding to local public safety answering points (PSAPs) across Wisconsin. Funding will be used for various projects related to the upgrade/replacement of existing end of life equipment to be NextGen9-1-1 capable. A summary of the grant awards is detailed below.

HAWKINS CO., Tenn. (WJHL)- Hawkins county’s public safety committee took a long-awaited step to get the county back on track after a system failure where the towers linking the emergency communications system failed at the end of last year.

An employee at the Alachua County Sheriff’s office is being honored for her working rescuing a sexual abuse survivor.
The sheriff’s office named Cherie Muse as its 2019 employee of the year.
Muse earned the award after the telecommunicator received a text from a 15-year-old girl who was sexually battered by a man. The girl was alone with him at an unknown location. Muse used the girl’s descriptions of landmarks to help lead deputies to the girl… READ MORE
