An arson fire that destroyed two homes on June 5 has led to the arrest of a Castlegar man and an investigation into problems with 9-1-1. (For previous coverage, click here).
Several residents reported calling 9-1-1 and waiting up to 20 minutes to reach the appropriate dispatcher.

To finance the exploding cost of responding to 9-1-1 calls, the City of Canyon Lake will begin charging the recipients of the service a monthly fee beginning July 1. All Canyon Lake residents are being charged, via the property tax roll, $16 per month for the service, unless they have opted out. Those who have opted out or who are not residents, but receive the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), will be charged $1,483 per patient, per call.

Atlanta police officers walked off the job last night in protest of charges brought against two officers in the Rayshard Brooks case. Brooks was killed by police at an Atlanta-area Wendy’s while they were attempting to take him into custody for driving while impaired. Brooks wrestled the officers, manage to gain control of one of their ‘ taser-weapons and fired it at an officer while attempting to flee the scene.
