FirstNet: A broadband network for first responders (ME)

BAR HARBOR, Maine (WABI) – FirstNet is a national broadband network with exclusive priority for public safety workers and first responders.

There are more than 450 cell sites that support FirstNet in Maine alone. Back in March, FirstNet deployed a mobile satellite cell tower to Bar Harbor, and boosters to MDI Hospital, to maintain emergency communications for all first responders during the expected influx of COVID-19 patients. County commissioners approve technology updates to Emergency Communications Center (KS)

Lyon County commissioners approved the purchase of technology updates for the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center during a brief action session Thursday morning.

Dubbed ProQA, the new call-taking software — which will cost the county $154,961.48 in total with combined installation, maintenance and licensing fees — will go a long way toward organizing dispatchers and promoting better communication between agencies in the event of an emergency according to LCECC Director Roxanne Vangundy…

Local law enforcement reacts to state body camera mandate (NM)

With the state mandate that all police officers in New Mexico must wear body cameras while interacting with the public now in effect, local agencies are preparing for the change.

Two departments — Belen and Los Lunas — already use body cameras and will make minor changes to their policies to be in compliance with the law.

The Valencia County Sheriff’s Office and Bosque Farms Police Department don’t currently use cameras and will have to find the money to purchase equipment, storage space for the digital files and draft new policies… READ MORE

Man arrested for calling central Pa. dispatchers more than 40 times, giving false tip: police (PA)

Carlisle police have arrested a man they say called 911 and Cumberland County dispatch more than 40 times on Tuesday and gave unfounded information related to a missing persons case.
