Holbrook selectmen Wednesday night accepted three grants totaling of $971,891.041 from the Massachusetts State 911 Department on behalf of Holbrook/Norfolk County Control.
The Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center is the Norfolk County Fire District Four Control Point so is also referred to as Norfolk County Control.

JUNEAU, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) — Public safety officials in Dodge County announced a free service designed that provides first responders with more information in the event of an emergency is now available to residents.
The service, Smart911, allows people to sign up online to provide important information for 9-1-1 call takers during emergencies. Community members can create Safety Profiles for their households that includes any information they want response teams to have in the event of an emergency. A new wireless infrastructure has officially launched in New Jersey, bringing increased coverage, capacity and capabilities for public safety, according to FirstNet, a broadband communications platform that focuses on America’s first responders and the public safety community.
First responders will now have access to advanced wireless communications thanks to new, purpose-build FirstNet cell sites and other network enhancements throughout the state. This will help ensure New Jersey’s first responders connect to the critical information they need, it said…

Last week, the FCC issued Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) PS Docket No. 13-42 to implement Section 6103 of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 that established FirstNet. Section 6103 is the requirement for the return for auction of the T-Band spectrum, which has been used by eleven major-metro-area public-safety agencies since 1970. I believe the FCC was reluctant to release this NPRM even though Congress has been under constant pressure for the last three years to proceed with the repeal. However, since Congress has failed to pass the simplest of bills to repeal the giveback, the FCC is left with no other choice…
