Governor Murphy Signs Legislation Criminalizing a False 9-1-1 Call Based on Race or Protected Class (NJ)

Governor Phil Murphy today signed legislation (A1906), which would amend current law to include false incrimination and filing a false police report as a form of bias intimidation. The bill also establishes crime of false 9-1-1 call with purpose to intimidate or harass based on race or other protected class.

Salem police have updated encrypted radio system, but it delays broadcast by 15 minutes (OR)

The Salem Police Department has upgraded its radio system so officers now can communicate with other city departments and neighboring public safety agencies — but the new system leaves a 15-minute delay for avid listeners.

Land Mobile Radio Users Claim DTV Repack Is Causing ‘Harmful Interference’ to Communications

WASHINGTON—Several groups representing users of private land mobile radio (PLMR) systems are urging the FCC to enforce rules that prevent interference from TV stations that recently moved their transmission facilities during the three year-channel repack that recently concluded.

In a letter to the FCC, the Land Mobile Communications Council asked the commission to take action against numerous instances of radio interference from stations that moved to new channels as a result of the 2017 spectrum auctions that transferred portions of broadcasters’ 600 MHz spectrum mostly to wireless carriers seeking to upgrade to 5G… 

Cell phone locations to improve coverage, broadband service in NE Mercer County (PA)

AT&T has announced the installation of nine new cell phone reception sites in western Pennsylvania, including in Mercer County.

The new sites will improve wireless service and enhance mobile broadband coverage, and help give first responders faster, more reliable wireless service, AT&T officials said.
