WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Walla Walla Emergency Services Communications (WESCOM) has been awarded a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Community Facilities to help improve public safety radio communications in northern Walla Walla County.

Managed by the Walla Walla Police Department, WESCOM is the 911 Public Safety Answering Point for Walla Walla County. Text 911 dispatchers if you’re in an emergency (AZ)

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – Law enforcement agencies are now using a new service to enhance public safety in Pima County.

The message: Call if you can, text if you can’t.

Communications centers are integrating texting into their 911 answering system, allowing anyone in need of emergency services to reach a dispatcher via text message when calling is not an option.

Coco helping county’s first responders (DE)

Coco the therapy dog has only been on the job for a few months, but her effect on the Delaware County Emergency Communications 911 Center can already be felt, according to county officials.

‘A true hero:’ Flagler dispatcher saves 2 lives through CPR one hour apart (FL)

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Dispatchers often talk to people in the worst moments of their lives but the help provided over the phone can mean the difference between life and death. Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Communications Specialist McKenzie Davis was able to provide that life-saving support to a baby and a man with Parkinson’s Disease all in the course of an hour.

On Sunday around 3:30 p.m., Davis took a 911 call from a mother in Palm Coast who was frantic because her 6-month-old baby was not breathing. Davis walked the mother through CPR and counted with her as she gave the infant compressions. The baby started breathing again and was taken to the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery…
