FirstNet One LTE blimp used for first time in aftermath of Hurricane Laura

FirstNet One, recently completed its first real deployment providing public-safety communications, as the tethered the aerostat that acts as an LTE tower in the sky supported the response effort in Louisiana during the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, according to AT&T officials.

“This was our first field deployment in a real incident,” Tom Steele, AT&T’s director of strategy and operation for the FirstNet program, said during an interview with IWCE’s Urgent Communications

On Saturday, September 19, 2020, Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a former PCSO emergency communications telecommunicator for one count battery domestic violence abuse (M-1) and one count false report to law enforcement (M-1).

Dickson, area 911 communicators help in hurricane-impacted Gulf Shores, Orange Beach (TN)

Tulsa-area 911 callers in psychiatric distress will now have access to a mental health professional, thanks to a partnership between city public safety agencies and community nonprofits.

The United Kingdom press and some in the United States announced this week that the UK LTE broadband network for public safety that was to have been operational this year will not be ready for prime time until 2024 or 2025. Why is there a delay, when will it finally become live, and what will it offer the UK’s public-safety agencies?

First estimates for network operation were that the network would be ready in 2016, and then 2019. Both dates were missed and the Home Office signed an extension to continue to use the Tetra Airwave system with Motorola Solutions until 2022
