DHS S&T Awards $750K to Maryland Company for Cybersecurity of Emergency Communicators (MD)

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) awarded $750,000 to SecuLore Solutions, an Odenton, Md.-based cybersecurity company, to improve and increase the resiliency of the nation’s emergency communications infrastructure, including Next Generation 911 (NG911) technologies.

MASON CITY, Iowa – It’s bound to happen sooner or later. Your car spins out into a ditch. Should you call 9-1-1 or not?

If you aren’t hurt and don’t need the police to help you, it might just be a good idea to call a tow company directly, to avoid tying up the lines. If there is a collision with another car or someone is injured, 9-1-1 is there for you.  Also, most departments have a non-emergency number if you need assistance, but not in a hurry.

PSAC meeting highlights 2019 accomplishments and 2020 initiatives

Last week the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) held the bi-annual Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) meeting in Austin, Texas, bringing together more than 20 PSAC members. The FirstNet Authority leadership team also participated in the day-long meeting, including Board Members Paul PatrickMayor Billy Hewes, and Karima Holmes, as well as Executive Director Edward Parkinson and senior FirstNet Authority experts.

PSAC Chair Todd Early kicked off the meeting by recognizing PSAC members for their work in 2019 to ensure that first responders nationwide can access to FirstNet.
