Shortage of 911 dispatchers cause concerns in Philadelphia: ‘Nobody answers the phone’ (PA)

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — When you call 9-1-1 in Philadelphia, you expect a dispatcher to pick up the phone within seconds.

But the people who spoke with Action News say that is just magical thinking. The reality is, staffing concerns are causing some serious concerns in the city.

Resident Albert Palubinsky says about 11 p.m. on Monday, he and his neighbors were alerted to a fire across the street by a woman walking her dog. He says what happened next was most disturbing: several of them called 9-1-1, but they couldn’t get anyone to answer.

Broome County Communications Center ‘experiencing issues’ with complaint reporting lines, officials say (NY)

The Broome County Office of Emergency Services said the County Communications Center is “experiencing issues” with the Binghamton, Vestal and Johnson City police 10-digit complaint reporting lines.

Broome County officials said people should call 607-778-1911 if their call does not go through.

LeDuc named full-time 911 director (TN)

The Coffee County Consolidated Communications Committee named the interim director, Scott LeDuc, as the full-time Coffee County 911 Communications Center Director during the July meeting Wednesday night.

The board’s steering committee interviewed the top two finalists of applicants and recommended LeDuc. A group of department heads narrowed the number from four.
