High-crime motels are costing Raleigh taxpayers and take a toll on Emergency Communications (NC)

[…]Cities nationwide struggle to keep cheap motels from turning into crime centers. But while others have fought back with lawsuits and other tools to make owners accountable, Raleigh has not.

In a two-month investigation, The News & Observer found eight motels that have averaged more than one 911 call a day since 2015.

Thomas appointed Calloway County Emergency Management Director (KY)

MURRAY — Chesley Thomas was appointed to the position of Calloway County Emergency Management Director Tuesday, according to a press release from the Calloway County Fiscal Court. 

Thomas was sworn in Tuesday afternoon by Calloway County Judge-Executive Kenny Imes to fill the vacancy left by Bill Call, who announced his retirement from the position in December.
