NEWARK, NJ — After more than 30 years of service to the city of Newark, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose is expected to announce Wednesday that he is stepping down from his role, according to sources with the knowledge of the director’s decision.

Born and raised in Newark, Ambrose’s exit from the Newark Public Safety Office would cap a lauded career in service to the city in addition to Essex County.
