CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – Chesterfield County has adopted another technological enhancement for their Emergency Communications Center.

This year at the annual conference, the Tennessee Emergency Number Association (TENA) recognized the Wayne County E911 Center by presenting 911 Director Jimmy Turnbow and Sheriff Shane Fisher with the TENA “Dispatch Event of the Year” award which recognizes the hard work, professionalism and dedication a 911 center displays during a critical incident.
The TENA awards committee reviewed all incidents that were submitted to them, and after review, chose Wayne County to receive the award to recognize the lifesaving efforts displayed on a call that involved a young Wayne County boy in February of 2021…

The Communications Supervisor reports to the Police Chief or his or her designee. The Communications Supervisor is a working supervisor who is responsible for supervising and coordinating functions of the Communications Center including performing all functions of a Public Safety Dispatcher, employee supervision, evaluation, training, shift scheduling, and duty assignment to personnel. The Communications Supervisor ensures compliance with City of Kenai personnel rules and regulations and Standard Operating Procedures. The position is subject to call out 24 hours a day for emergencies and major incidents that impact Communications Center operations. Duggan hired as new EMA director
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Those involved in upgrading the county’s public safety radio system agree that improvements are needed, but the question is how the near $5 million cost will be covered.
One option may be to put the project out to bond on the November 2022 ballot, as was discussed during a Piscataquis County Commissioners meeting on Sept. 21

That’s the question Ryan Tunks could be heard asking Thursday from his work station on the second floor of the Kenai Peninsula Borough’s Emergency Response Center. Eyes flitting between six different computer screens while radio chatter echoed around the room, he’s a shift supervisor and one of four dispatchers on duty Thursday morning fielding emergency, administrative and accidental 911 calls made by Kenai Peninsula residents that day.
