MENOMINEE—The $6,400 dual-band radios Menominee County purchased for emergency response have arrived, Andrew Primeaux, Menominee County’s 911 director, said Tuesday.
In December, the Menominee County Board of Commissioners agreed to spend $2.26 million for the new radios, using federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, to improve communication with Michigan’s Public Safety Communications System.
The radios will be distributed to fire and emergency management services agencies throughout the county, including volunteer departments, Primeaux said…

Often overlooked, emergency dispatchers play a critical role in emergency services being able to assist countless people a day.
“Without us, nobody could do their job. You wouldn’t get police service. You wouldn’t get fire service. You wouldn’t get an ambulance,” dispatcher Rebecca Farkas said. “Everything starts here when that phone rings.”
To recognize their importance, police and fire service personnel around Cobb provided meals and snacks to dispatchers at the Cobb County 911 Center in Marietta during National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
