The Delaware Department of Safety & Homeland Security’s Division of Communications has completed a major milestone in statewide communications infrastructure by decommissioning its legacy 800 MHz radio system on Sept. 22. The achievement caps an eight-year, $63 million modernization project bringing cutting-edge IP-based technology to Delaware’s radio network.
“This represents a transformational moment for Delaware’s emergency communications,” said Eric Wagner, director of communications and Delaware statewide interoperability coordinator (SWIC). “Delaware has successfully transitioned from an antiquated system to a state-of-the-art platform that positions the First State at the forefront of public safety communications technology.”

OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County is set to enhance its drone capabilities to support faster response times for boaters in distress on Oneida Lake. The ‘Drone as a First Responder’ Program is part of a new partnership with Northeast UAS Airspace Integration Research (NUAIR) Alliance.
Deployed by operators at the Oswego County E-911 Communications Center in Oswego, these public safety drones will be able to search Oneida Lake for distressed boaters, allowing emergency response crews from the shoreline to reach them more quickly.
