Join NENA in Honoring the Work of 9-1-1 Professionals During 9-1-1 Education Month
Every April, America recognizes the importance of 9-1-1 by designating it as National 9-1-1 Education Month. In communities nationwide, public-safety educators promote vital messages about how, when, and why to call 9-1-1. This year, because of the COVID-19 crisis, NENA encourages the promotion of our social-share graphic – available on our COVID-19 Resources page – detailing when people should call 9-1-1 about coronavirus.
Additionally, while hundreds of millions of Americans are sheltering in place in response to the pandemic crisis, 9-1-1 professionals are still serving on the front lines of emergency response every day. NENA thanks every 9-1-1 professional for their dedication, selflessness, and courage during these uncertain times and encourages the public to share messages of support and appreciation using hashtag #ThankYou911.

This report, based on 500 survey responses from 9-1-1 professionals across 46 U.S. states and territories, provides the 9-1-1 community with an initial view into how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting PSAP operations, as well as what actions PSAPs and local authorities are taking to protect telecommunicators.
Survey access was provided to PSAP contacts using the NENA Enhanced PSAP Registry and Census (EPRC), a free service for public safety personnel that provides contact information for PSAPs during emergencies.
