Arlington County applauds the decision by Gov. Ralph Northam to make the COVID-19 vaccine available to more Virginians, and County health and government officials are moving quickly to ramp up access for eligible Arlingtonians.

Hancock County to begin vaccinating in Phase 1B, dispatchers & First Responders (IL)

The Hancock County Health Department announced they will receive 200 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, Jan. 19, and will start vaccinating those individuals in Phase 1B.

This comes after almost all individuals who fall under Phase 1A have been vaccinated in the county.

WSU to restructure police into Dept. of Public Safety (OH)

AIRBORN — Wright State University will reorganize its police department and complementary services into its Department of Public Safety as part of the university’s overall restructuring plan.

The plan is designed to sustainably support university operations at an enrollment of 10,000 students, according to Greg Sample, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Wright State. Police Lt. Kurt Holden has been named the interim director of public safety. Holden and Sample are working together to develop an operating plan for the new department, which they expect to complete the plan by the end of the spring semester…

Pennington County 911 receives hundreds of calls a day with many of them accidental (SD)

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Hearing a noise from your pocket realizing you’ve accidentally called a friend is no big deal many people have done it, but what if instead it’s an emergency dispatcher on the other side?

“First thing if you accidentally call 911, don’t hang up,” says Ted Rufledt Jr. from Pennington County 911. “Just stay on the line and talk to us and we’ll get your name and confirm your phone number and verify what’s going on.”

Some Carbon County Residents and Businesses May Have to Change Their Address in 2021 (UT)

In order to prepare for the Real ID Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card Program as well as Next Generation 911, some county residents and businesses will have to change their physical address. The Carbon County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Department, along with the United States Postal Service (USPS) Address Management Office in Salt Lake City, have been tasked with ensuring that all county addresses are in compliance by the end of 2021.

Indiana county public safety agencies seek new dispatch system to speed emergency responses

CHESTERTON, Ind. — The Chesterton Fire Department is seeking a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant for a station alerting system, which will quicken response times to local emergencies.
