First Voice in Crisis: Lubbock Police Department celebrating telecommunicators (TX)

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Police Department is honoring the first voice people hear in a time of crisis, celebrating National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

The department is sending a reminder there is always someone in its Emergency Communications Center (ECC), ready to take a call. Manager Roger Ochoa says while people may not think about what they do, these first responders’ work is vital to the entire department.

911 communication center hosts open house during National Public Telecommunicators Week (NE)

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – This week 911 dispatchers all over the United State are being celebrated and recognized for the the work that they do.

National Public Telecommunicators Week gives people a reminder to thank the dispatchers on the other end of a 911 call. They are the calm voice that sends help – and coordinates once help gets to the scene.

NELA celebrates National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (LA)

WEST MONROE, La (KTVE/KARD) – National Public Safety Telecommunicators week is in full force as local emergency agencies recognize the heroes under the headsets.

The honorary week began in 1981 in the state of California and has continuously spread across the nation over 43 years. KTVE/KARD spoke with the Director of the Ouachita Parish 9-1-1 Communications District, Jade Gabb, on what this week stands for.
