STRATFORD, CT — Stratford’s public safety dispatchers were honored this past week as part of the National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick recognized the Stratford Public Safety Communications Center’s staff by releasing an official proclamation.

FOXBOROUGH – Built in 1960 to transmit telephone and television signals nationwide, the High Rock site surrounded by conservation land is now home to a state-of-the art emergency communication center.
The large, long-vacant cement building in Foxborough was recently transformed into the new $8.7 million Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communication Center (SEMRECC). The center provides emergency dispatching for the Southeastern Massachusetts Regional 911 District. The district, formed in 2017, includes Easton, Foxborough, Mansfield and Norton. In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week April 12 through 17, UT Health East Texas EMS is recognizing the pivotal role its emergency dispatchers play every day. Working from UT Health East Texas EMS headquarters in Tyler, a team of 27 dispatchers is responsible for answering emergency calls for EMS services within Smith, Cherokee, Camp, Rusk, Henderson, Wood and Upshur counties. After years of development, the city of Santa Fe is preparing to launch a new emergency response unit with a goal of alleviating the workload of the police and fire departments and providing better support to community members in crisis.
The Alternative Response Unit will be a multidepartment unit composed of a police officer, a paramedic, a behavioral health caseworker and a social worker to address low-threat 911 calls in which someone may need help rather than a jail cell. The unit will begin operating May 4 on a schedule of two days a week, with hopes of expanding this summer, Santa Fe fire Chief Paul Babcock said…
