NORTH BRANFORD — The town will receive $1 million to update its Emergency Operations Center in the federal government’s fiscal 2022 Homeland Security appropriations bill through the efforts of U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, according to her office.
DeLauro, the House Appropriations Committee chairwoman, secured the funding in the latest appropriations bill for a new, state-of-the-art operations center, she said in a release. The center will replace outdated technology the town currently uses.
“This federal funding will translate into greater emergency capabilities, better response and recovery coordination, and a more resilient community,” the release said…

All Beltrami County Communications Officers have been trained and certified in Telephone CPR (referred to as TCPR) enhancing their instruction prior to the arrival of first responders and medical services. The training provided the skills to rapidly detect the need for CPR and how to instruct citizens in performing CPR. Legislation in 2019 required Minnesota Public Safety Answering Points (911 centers) to establish a protocol by July 1st, 2021 to provide a minimum level of instruction for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when callers who are not trained in CPR are reporting an out of hospital cardiac arrest.

HILLSDALE, MI—Hillsdale County’s 9-1-1 administrators are working tirelessly to recruit new emergency dispatchers to bring staff levels back up to 100 percent.
Emergency dispatchers are the first point of contact in an emergency and are often referred to as “the lifeline” for personnel in the field such as firefighters, police officers and paramedics.
Doug Sanford, Hillsdale County’s emergency management and 9-1-1 director, said the dispatch center — located in Hillsdale’s Industrial Park — has been a few employees short for a few years now, but they did not interview potential new candidates for the last year due to COVID-19…

BEATRICE – Richardson County in southeast Nebraska is becoming a member of the Southeast Communications 911 Dispatch service area.
The Beatrice City Council approved a plan for the computer-aided dispatch center based at the Beatrice Police Department to serve the county located in the southeast corner of the state. Richardson County will pay a fee of $180,000 in the first year of a three-year agreement, approved on a 6-0 vote by the council.
Chief of Beatrice Police, Bruce Lang says the arrangement should be mutually beneficial. He says Richardson County benefits by getting good service and being able to share resources that might not otherwise be affordable.
