Beatrice-based 911 center adding Richardson County, to coverage area (NE)

BEATRICE – Richardson County in southeast Nebraska is becoming a member of the Southeast Communications 911 Dispatch service area.


The Beatrice City Council approved a plan for the computer-aided dispatch center based at the Beatrice Police Department to serve the county located in the southeast corner of the state. Richardson County will pay a fee of $180,000 in the first year of a three-year agreement, approved on a 6-0 vote by the council.


Chief of Beatrice Police, Bruce Lang says the arrangement should be mutually beneficial. He says Richardson County benefits by getting good service and being able to share resources that might not otherwise be affordable. HILLSDALE — Hillsdale County’s 911 administrators are working tirelessly to recruit new emergency dispatchers to bring staff levels back up to 100 percent.

Emergency dispatchers are the first point of contact in an emergency and are often referred to as “the lifeline” for personnel in the field such as firefighters, police officers and paramedics.

Doug Sanford, Hillsdale County’s emergency management and 911 director, said the dispatch center — located in Hillsdale’s Industrial Park — has been a few employees short for a few years now, but they did not interview potential new candidates for the last year due to COVID-19…

Pennington County 911, law enforcement agencies holding job fair (SD)

Court of Appeals affirms denial of summary judgment to county for botched 911 call case (IN)

The Indiana Court of Appeals dealt a blow to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and 911 Communications in a case from a 2015 incident that allegedly caused a woman’s death due to a botched 911 call.

On June 24, the Court of Appeals affirmed an earlier decision to deny a motion for summary judgment of a 2015 wrongful death suit from the estate of Tammy Ford, whose family alleged that the actions of the Howard County Sheriff’s Office and 911 Communications led to her death. The defendants appealed an order denying summary judgment on the complaint by Derrick Duke and Dustin Duke, representatives of the Ford estate, which failed, meaning the case will continue…
