MADISON CO., Ala. (WAFF) – We know it’s been a struggle for many businesses to build back employees as we’re moving out of the pandemic, but for some professions, the need is more critical than others.
The Madison County 911 center has been working to hire more dispatchers for months. The director for the center wants to stress that although they are shorthanded right now, 911 calls are getting answered.
He is hoping to cut down on the ring times, and get more people to join the team. He describes the center as a positive, family environment with great insurance benefits. And says the pay rate is competitive and they are considering bumping it up higher… READ MORE

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – By September 2022, people living in Dorchester County could start reaping the benefits from an upgrade in the county’s computer aided dispatch program, known as CAD.

“I was calling 911, unfortunately, there must be a problem in this city, because I could not get through. They put me on hold. I hung up, called 242-COPS, same thing. So I think that department, there needs to be some money allocated to that department. Because I’m not the only one,” said one woman who did not want to give her name…

Some police officers are able to work full careers without ever having to unholster their service weapons on a call, says Derrick Walker, director with the 911 dispatch center in Durango. But not one day goes by that any of them could have done their jobs without their radios.
And to improve on that all-important tool in law enforcement, the Durango-La Plata County Emergency Communications Center recently integrated a new 911 call-tracking system called RapidSOS…

HARTINGTON — Cedar County’s 911 system will be getting a major upgrade later this fall.
The county is preparing for what’s known as Next Generation 911 – new technology that allows the public to share videos, images and text messages with 911 call centers. The new technology also enables 911 centers to communicate with each other. Cedar County will join five other entities to connect their 911 centers through fiber optics.
The Cedar County Commissioners signed an interlocal agreement to join Dakota, Madison, Stanton, Dixon and Knox in a fiber optic 911 network at its meeting last week. The entities were chosen to form the network because they have compatible equipment to make it happen, said Emergency Manager Kevin Garvin…
