LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Rave Mobile Safety has created a new safety app called Smart 911.
The app allows users to create a safety profile giving emergency services instant access to the user’s personal information. The 911 dispatchers then use this information to assist in emergency situations.
Jason French, State Director for Smart 911, tells us out of 66 million Smart 911 users nationwide, 200,000 of those users are in Arkansas.
Smart 911 was created in 2009 but Arkansas was also the first state to implement Smart 911 in all emergency call centers across the state in 2012…
EDINA, MN — The Edina Police Department put out a message late Wednesday night warning that some 911 calls may not get through.
The department said the Edina 911 Communications Center was “experiencing difficulties” with calls from T-Mobile/Sprint users and recommended they call the 10-digit, 24-hour dispatch line — 952-826-1600 — if they had an emergency.
The Edina 911 Communications Center was just one of many dispatch centers that experienced problems Wednesday into Thursday. Police departments and 911 centers throughout the Twin Cities and across the U.S. posted similar messages to the Edina 911 center’s…
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The consolidation of Clarksville’s and Montgomery County’s E-911 dispatch centers, which has been in the works since at least 2018, has fallen through, according to Clarksville’s chief of police.
The decision to keep the departments separate was made by Police Chief David Crockarell in mid-March, and he announced it at the most recent E-911 District Board meeting on March 17.
The attempt to consolidate city dispatchers – who work under CPD to dispatch for police and Clarksville Fire Rescue – with the E-911 Center was suggested several years ago, long before Crockarell was sworn in as chief of police in 2020, Scott Beaubien, CPD spokesman, told Clarksville Now…
The IWCE made a triumphant return with IWCE 2022! Some may say it was smaller than earlier IWCEs or perhaps the show floor did not have as many vendors, but smaller or fewer vendors is not what matters. What does matter is that overall, the show was a great success.
Sessions
Sessions I attended and the four I participated in were well presented and well received. Some sessions had more attendees than others, but that is partly because many sessions were held concurrently. If you missed one or more you wanted to attend, I am told that by the time you receive this Advocate they should be up and available on the IWCE website…
PALM COAST, Fla. —A Flagler County woman was rescued Wednesday after she texted 911 for help.
Officials say the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a hang-up 911 call around 4:30 a.m. and soon after text messages began to come in from the same number. “I just found my phone. He is holding me against my will,” read one text from the caller to 911.
Investigators tracked the phone’s location to a building at Palm Coast Resort… READ MORE
Wireless customers can now text 911 all across Southwestern Pennsylvania if there’s a situation where they can’t call.
The Southwestern Pennsylvania Emergency Response Regional Task Force said this allows people with hearing and/or speech impairments to access 911, as well as people in situations where it’s unsafe to talk.
Non-emergency calls should still be communicated to emergency services through non-emergency phone lines, the task force said.
Allegheny County began using text-to-911 since 2014, but residents and visitors could not use that once they crossed the border into neighboring counties…
