The Payne County Board of Commissioners hosted a lengthy planning session Monday afternoon concerning a proposed emergency radio network covering all of Payne County. Representatives from county fire departments, municipal emergency management departments and the Payne County Sheriff’s Office were present.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) – In an emergency situation, a dispatcher is often the first point of contact after someone dials 911, but, they aren’t considered first responders like firefighters, police or paramedics.
Legislation that passed both houses with unanimous support last week would consider dispatchers first responders, making them eligible for more benefits.

911 and fire dispatchers at the Emergency Communication Centre in Red Deer have settled into their new bright and airy dispatch centre after a 10-month renovation project.
This week is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week to recognize emergency dispatchers across Canada, including those Red Deer dispatchers who serve 430,000 people in central and southern Alberta at one of the province’s primary emergency communication centres.

SALT LAKE CITY — Emergency dispatchers honored as the first, first responders
As a crucial member of the public safety community, 9-1-1 dispatchers are honored each year during ‘National Telecommunicators Week’.
