Proposal Aims to Better Prepare MN 911 Dispatchers for Guiding CPR

Almost 90 percent of Americans believe they can get instructions on how to perform CPR if needed, when they call 911. The reality is, only 50-60 percent of dispatchers are trained to give those instructions.

The American Heart Association is backing legislation to require that dispatchers be trained to provide CPR instruction, or be able to quickly transfer callers to someone who can. 911 dispatcher, business owner, help South Bend Police nab burglary suspect (IN)

South Bend Police are crediting St. Joseph County 911 for helping nab a burglary suspect.

It was around 1:45 a.m. on Monday, April 18, when officers were sent to a business in the 800 block of S. Michigan Street to investigate a possible burglary. The business owner was watching surveillance cameras from home saw an individual inside his business and called 911.

Loudenbeck: Loudenbeck 911 bill signed (WI)

Madison- Today, Governor Tony Evers signed Senate Bill 673, authored by Rep. Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) and Sen. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green). The bill is now 2021 Wisconsin Act 261.

Act 261 creates a Geographical Information System (GIS) grant program to assist counties with the cost of data preparation, data gathering, data creation, geographic information system staffing, data preparation and collection contracts, and training. Oakland County Sheriff calls on Congress to fund Next Generation 9-1-1 (IL)

(WXYZ) — Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard is calling on Congress to fund “Next Generation 9-1-1” to mark the end of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

Next Generation 9-1-1 would enable call centers to receive multimedia data from callers. This would allow 9-1-1 operators to easily send that information to other 9-1-1 centers and first responders in real-time.

Strathcona County recognizes professionals who answer 9-1-1 calls (Canada)

Apr. 10 – 16 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and Strathcona County is taking some time to recognize the people on the other end of 9-1-1 calls.  

Satina Koscielny is the supervisor of the municipal operational communications centre in Strathcona County. Originally from Manitoba, she got into the field after a friend told her about a job opening.
