INDIANA — In 1991 Congress proclaimed the second full week in April to be National Public Safety Telecommunications Week to recognize the importance of those special individuals who coordinate the efforts of police, fire, and EMS workers. Governor Eric J. Holcomb has proclaimed the week of April 10-16 as Public Safety Telecommunicator Week in Indiana. Indiana has recognized this week since 1999.
Telecommunications Operators are the unsung heroes of public safety. They operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These are the men and women who collect the initial information and pass it along to the first responders in the field. Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR), as a member of the Texas-based BEST EMS emergency medical control and continuing education organization, has been recognized as a Lighthouse Community by the Resuscitation Academy (RA), a global leader in cardiac arrest care.
The Lighthouse designation is given to communities that perform as “all-stars” when it comes to resuscitation from a cardiac arrest, according to the RA, and represent the best the world of resuscitation has to offer by serving as beacons to light the way for other communities

It’s been over four years since Hawley Ambulance has been the official, primary ambulance service for Hawley Borough. Finally, after completely reorganizing, the company is back.
Hawley Borough Council unanimously agreed to designate the company, now known as Lake Region EMS, as the borough’s primary Basic Life Support (BLS) provider at a meeting held April 13.
If Lake Region EMS is unable to answer a call, Commonwealth Health can respond as the “nearest available” BLS and Advance Life Support (ALS) provider. Wayne County Communications Center can also dispatch other nearby companies able to respond, including Tafton Ambulance and White Mills Ambulance, among others…
New Hanover County first responders to receive pay increase
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – New Hanover County announced today that its frontline first responders in 911 Communications, Fire Rescue and the Sheriff’s Office will receive a pay increase, in line with market demands and public safety functions, beginning Tuesday.
