A Coral Springs employee known for her positive attitude and dedication has received the prestigious Tom Gallagher Award for exceptional service.
Emergency Telecommunicator Shaunte Reid was honored at the Broward County Commission meeting held on Tuesday, April 26, for her exemplary leadership, distinguished and compassionate service to Coral Springs and Parkland residents.
The Thomas W. Gallagher Jr. Memorial Public Safety Award honors emergency dispatchers and is named in honor of Gallagher, a former emergency dispatcher who died suddenly in 2012 after serving the public for more than 28 years…

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) — In 2022, 9-1-1 call takers and dispatchers will officially be considered first responders in the state of Alabama.
On April 18, Governor Ivey signed into law HB414. The law will go into effect July 1, 2022.

HINGHAM — The Hingham Commission on Disabilities, the Hingham Police and Fire Departments and the South Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center would like to share with residents information on the Town of Hingham’s Exceptional Needs Registry.
The Exceptional Needs Registry is a database of residents in town who have voluntarily been identified as possibly needing special assistance when contacting 911 or in distress.
The Town created the registry as a method to aid first responders who are called in to assist an individual with unique circumstances. The two-page form combines the Massachusetts 911 Disability Indicator form with the Town of Hingham’s unique Exceptional Needs form…

WOODSTOCK, Va. (WHSV) – Emotional wellness continues to be a focus for law enforcement and other first responders in Shenandoah County. Many have completed mental health training programs held by the Northwestern Community Services Board.

Community leaders in Chittenden County have been trying to regionalize emergency dispatch for 50 years, but for the most part 911 calls are still routed to a constellation of local centers.
Studies, reports and committees over time have brought hope for the effort but never fruit, to the point where many public safety officers on the ground have given it Circ Highway status, in reference to the state’s decades-long attempt to build a circumferential highway around the county. A four-mile remnant of the failed highway still stands in South Burlington.
Now, funding from various federal and state sources might just drag regionalization efforts across the finish line…
