As Metro scrambles to fill 911 center vacancies, wait times lengthen for callers (NV)
The Las Vegas police department is scrambling to fill employee vacancies at its 911 center as wait times lengthen in recent months.
From April 2022 through February, Metro Police met its standard of answering 90% of its 1.1 million emergency calls within 10 seconds. But it missed the standard in December at 85% and in February at 76%.
‘Bit of a legend’: Longtime Hadley dispatcher is state’s Telecommunicator of Year (MA)
A lifelong Hadley resident who has been a civilian dispatcher since his high school graduation in the mid-1970s is the state’s Telecommunicator of the Year.
Henry Baj, who has handled dispatching duties on almost every Saturday day shift since the summer of 1976 and in recent years fills other shifts on a regular basis, was recently at the State House, as part of 911 Goes to Boston day, where he was presented with the award from the Massachusetts Communications Supervisors Association.
