7 people’s lives here in the Permian Basin. A Midland dispatcher shares
her story about the events that took place during that and the chaos
that followed shortly after.

a 911 dispatcher and part-time grocery courier who makes $89,322 per
year and spends some of her money this week on Reese’s peanut butter
chocolate spread.
On March 28, 2018, Hardin County dispatcher Kendra Murphy took a call, but only heard static.
She
was about to disconnect, but something told her to stay on the line.
She said she heard two people talking and something about a gun.
Eventually, Murphy remembered, the caller got on the phone.
In
the 911 call, the woman was heard saying, “It’s my uncle. He lives next
door to me. He just told me he shot his wife in the garage, and he’s
going now to John Hardin (High School) to pick up his son.”

and they’re promising a “modernized and streamlined” application process
for new recruits.
On Wednesday, the B.C. RCMP announced the launch of a new dispatcher recruitment website, bcrcmp911.ca, which provides information about the job and the application process to prospective employees.

Nicole Talman with a Citizen Recognition Award at a recent meeting of
the Dalton Public Safety Commission.
“Our 911 dispatchers do a
great job helping to keep our community safe,” Pangle said, “and at (the
Aug. 27) meeting of the Dalton Public Safety Commission we were able to
honor one of them for her role in saving the life of a young child.”
CLEARLAKE, Calif. – On Wednesday, the Clearlake Police Department took a
key step in its plans to improve services to the community by beginning
its function as a primary public safety answering point.
Before
Wednesday, when individuals dialed 911 in the city of Clearlake, their
calls were routed to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Central Dispatch
for police matters and then transferred to the Clearlake Police
Department.
The circuitous process included delays and prevented
dispatchers from accessing automated caller location information,
including from cellular callers, with dispatchers having to then ask
more questions to know whether the call was for police or fire, the
latter being relayed to Cal Fire’s St. Helena dispatch.
