The new Linn County E-911 Center is now open.
The center,
located at 110 W. Ira St., in Marceline is in the old Saint Francis
Hospital and includes communications operations, meeting rooms, kitchen,
dispatch center, sleeping rooms for dispatchers and a full kitchen.
The
center’s meeting room is used for the month E911 board meetings,
training and can be used as an Emergency Operations Command Center for
Linn County, should the need arise.

On a recent night when an earthquake
rattled York County, prompting calls to 911, Dover Township firefighters
overheard dispatchers sending police to a reported house explosion with
fire in their coverage area.
Nine
volunteers at the firehouse jumped up, put on their gear and figured out

After a mother made a frantic 911 call while trapped inside a sinking vehicle with her 5-month-old child in Houston, she is finally meeting the woman who helped save her. As Tropical Storm Imelda inundated Houston, 19-year-old Rachel Cangemi and her baby slid into a flooded creek and their van began sinking. “I thought I was going to die,” she told Inside Edition. Dispatcher Tammy Parker took the 911 call. She asked the worried mother if she could unlock the doors, but Cangemi could not.

UPDATE: 4:08 a.m. — Campbell County officials have
confirmed that their emergency 911 phone lines have been restored to
those previously affected by the outage.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va (WFXR) — 9-1-1 lines are down again across certain areas of Campbell County.
Residents with phone line service in the 376, 283, 309, and 369 are
advised to use a cell phone to call 9-l-l in an event of an emergency.
Residents can also call the Campbell County Public safety non-emergency number at (434) 332-9574 to report an emergency.
