TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The College of Southern Idaho is now offering dispatch classes to hopefully help teach people about dispatching before they get into the job field.
“For me, it’s how much they do besides just take calls, they do a whole lot more,” said student Michelle Rehwalt. “They talk to the officers, they track everybody, and if the machines go down and they have to do it all by hand, it’s just incredible the stuff that they do.”

Brown County – After more than two decade of being the calming voice on the other end of 911, the long-time Brown County Public Safety Communications police and fire dispatcher Tina Wiegert recently hung up her headset, retiring after 23 years.
“I had an amazing career with City of Green Bay/Brown County and considered my profession extremely rewarding,” Wiegert said. “Some people may say it’s a stressful career and in truth, it can be. However, it is also so much more than that.”

Keeping his community safe has long been a big part of Rob Barton’s life.
A veteran police dispatcher with the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority, he has been the calming voice at the end of the line for many years, dealing with a wide variety of emergency calls.
He remembers the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires like they were on Wednesday, and says domestic violence calls really hit home, sticking with him for years to come.

The Fond du Lac County Communications Center will be saying farewell to a longtime member of their staff in the coming days.
Dispatcher Frank Quick will be retiring from the dispatch center on Sunday, after 33-and-a-half years of service as a 9-1-1 dispatcher. County Communications and Emergency Management Director Bobbi Hicken tells us that Quick will be missed in the dispatch center. “He just is a wonderful person, has worked very hard and is finally hanging up his headset and going on to retirement,” Hicken said. “He was one of my training officers, he taught me everything I know…

NEW FRANKLIN New Franklin wants to remain a primary dispatch center even as the state recently changed the guidelines and requirements.
During the Oct. 2 City Council meeting, council approved the creation of one temporary full-time dispatcher position for the New Franklin Dispatch Center.
