NEW CUMBERLAND — Hancock County dispatchers were formally honored at Thursday’s county commission meeting.
At the last meeting, 911 Dispatch Center Director Tracy Lemley announced she had received a letter from the Brooke County Sheriff’s Office regarding the professionalism of her dispatchers during Aug. 14 shooting incident. The letter specifically honored dispatcher Aaron Beaumont for his work.

BOCA RATON – The parents of a restaurant worker fatally shot as he drove home on Interstate 95 in February 2018 have sued the city of West Palm Beach, saying a dispatcher didn’t do enough to deter the alleged gunman.
A lawsuit filed Monday argues that when Hugo Selva called after shooting another man in West Palm Beach on Feb. 6, 2018, the dispatcher, who’d been on the job for 30 years, told him to go to police headquarters and alerted detectives, but she did not follow up.

Over 50 law enforcement and other emergency agencies came to Stuart last week to assist with an officer-involved shooting, but the first people who responded to those injured weren’t made visible by flashing lights or sirens.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Pasco County Sheriffs responded to a call about a woman who kept dialing 9-1-1.
Deputies say Jessica Ann Tyler, 33 dialed 9-1-1 11 times over fifteen days.
One of the phone calls made, Tyler called Emergency Dispatch Services to report drug activity at a neighbor’s house.
